United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaywayn are the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates federation, located southeast of the Arabian peninsula, in the Persian Gulf. Abu Dhabi is the largest (86% of the total area) and Dubai the most populous (2.2 million).
They have had a common constitution since 1971, but each emirate retains its political, judicial and economic autonomy. Its main source of income is oil. Of its 8 million inhabitants, only one million are citizens of the Emirates.
There are 9,540 Spaniards residing in the Emirates (as of January 1, 2026).
