The People's Republic of China, whose official name is Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo, is the fourth largest country in the world after Russia, Canada and the US, and the most populous in the world. China is clearly divided into an eastern and a western part. The western part comprises high plateaus (with an average height of 3,000 m. in Tibet and 1,000 m. in Xinjiang) and high mountains (above 3,000 m.). In contrast, the eastern part of the country consists of plains and long river basins of altitude rarely exceeding 300 m.
Its economy has experienced a remarkable growth in recent years until it reached the second place worldwide.
There are 4,588 Spaniards residing in China (as of January 1, 2026).
