India

India is a federal parliamentary republic, which is composed of a federation of 28 states, 6 Union Territories and one National Capital Territory. It is the second most populous state in the world. Although the country has a high proportion of arable land (53.1% of its territory according to data from the World Bank, 2011), it presents water supply problems for a part of its territory. In recent years the Indian economy has experienced remarkable growth, several points above the OECD average.
